If you would like to change number of new products on the home page, please follow the steps below:

1. Open Magento admin panel and navigate to CMS->Pages.

2. Select your Home page.

3. Go to "Design" section.

4. In the field "Layout Update XML" find:

   (for example, only 4 products):

   

5. You may change number of new products on the Home Page:

   8

6. Click "Save Page".

7. Refresh your Homepage and you will see changes: 8 new products show up on the page now. In some cases you will need to clear Magento cache.
